It is a great place. A hill station in the old meaning of the word: it's in the hills (obviously); it is a place people flock to in order to escape the city and its noise and chaos; its natural beauty and quieter lifestyle attracts artists and all kinds of creative people. And, like many hill stations I have visited around the world, Katoomba just has a special kind of atmosphere, a vibe, that is unique, but somehow familiar. I like it!
Thus far I have been out and about with my camera twice; and then only to the central area of the town. My next port of call is the major lookout at the Three Sisters formation. It's packed every day with tourists from all over the world, so I think I am going to be able to find some people there to photograph.
This image I made on my way home from the town. Not something you see every day in a suburban (or any other) street is it?
Anyway, stay tuned for my photographs from Katoomba. I expect there will be quite a lot!
