I've been here about a week and only been out on the street with my camera once. As I said: it's very hot!
Anyway, I'm not sure if I like the place or not. I feel a bit odd being here. What I mean to say is that I feel quite alien, as if this is not my place. I guess I feel I don't belong here for whatever reason. Weird really, but I feel a kind of invisibility here, which of course for street photography might be thought of as a plus. I don't always think like that however.
This photograph of a local man walking past an historic building (the town is full of beautifully designed and made buildings from the end of the 19th Century) kind of sums up that feeling of invisibility. It's as if I walk in the shadows where I can't be seen by the people of this place.
I'm not complaining: it is what it is. I sense what I sense and feel what I feel. And I think it is that being in the place, in the moment, can help me, just sometimes, to make a photograph that actually says something. Like this one. Kalgoorlie Man
